Christ the Teacher College offers professional Certificates in Religious Education and Ministry.  
The certification courses are each comprised of two 3-credit courses (60 clock hours) and participants have
one full year to complete the certificate course. Certificate courses can be upgraded for credit (as two 3-
credit courses) and used toward the Master of  Religious Education degree for those meeting degree
requirements. Students may earn both a Master of Religious Education degree and various Certificates
concurrently.

Certificates will include: Religious Education; Teaching Methods and Norms; Parish Catechetical Leader;
Classroom Catechist;  Liturgical Catechist; Biblical Catechist; Youth and Young Adult  Ministry; Adult Faith
Formation; Marriage and Family; Ecumenism; and Moral Formation

CERTIFICATION COURSES

CERTIFICATES in RELIGIOUS EDUCATION  offer printable lectures and PowerPoint presentations,
suggested classroom ideas and self-assessing quizzes.  Discussion forums allow participants to discuss
the faith and offer ministry support.  

CRE 100: RELIGIOUS EDUCATION      
CAT 600: The Catechism of the Catholic Church
CAT 604: Planning Lessons

This certificate presents the foundational teachings of our faith, as well as an overview of the Religious
Education ministry and tools for teaching the faith.  

CRE 200: TEACHING METHODS AND NORMS
CAT603: Norms, Methods and Learning Styles
CAT613: The Teaching Tradition of the Church

This certificate presents the teaching tradition of the Church, current norms for catechesis as well as
methods and learning styles to reach all students, including those with special needs.


CERTIFICATES in MINISTRY first require attainment of the CRE 100: RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
  • a completed registration form
  • a one-page statement of purpose or intent for ministry
  • a letter of recommendation from their   Pastor indicating they are a Catholic in good standing
  • An undergraduate or college degree is NOT required

CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS
  • Students are bound by the certificate requirements of Christ the Teacher College
  • Candidates for certificates must earn a “B+” grade (3.01 GPA)
  • Students must sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium
